We strive to provide timely preventative dental care to all of our patients. Although our in-office programs are designed to prevent most root canals from being necessary, if you have a tooth that is decayed, infected, or damaged, it is possible that you may need a root canal procedure. We are proud to say that through our innovative technology, skilled professionals and passionate care, we can perform the procedure to give you long-term relief with little to no pain.
When a tooth has a deep cavity, decay or a crack, bacteria can enter the space and cause severe discomfort and pain. Most common signs and symptoms include hot/cold temperature sensitivity, swelling, tenderness of the area, pain, and discoloration of the tooth. A root canal is a dental procedure during which the infected or damaged pulp is removed, followed by thorough cleaning, shaping, and sealing of the tooth’s root canals. This process effectively eliminates the source of infection, alleviates pain, and preserves the natural tooth. A temporary filling will be placed while the area heals. Once the tooth has healed, a permanent filling will be placed. If there is extensive tooth damage, a custom crown will be placed to protect the tooth and restore its functionality and durability.
Root canals are instrumental in saving teeth that might otherwise need extraction, providing patients with a viable and durable solution to maintain their oral health and preserve their natural smiles. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia to ensure the patient’s comfort throughout the process. If left untreated, severe pain or an abscess may develop, and a more invasive type of treatment may be necessary.
